Computer Networking and Network+ Certification

Mode: Full-Time (Up to 6 Months)
Also available Part-Time

Commencement: January, July & September of each year.

The goal of this course is to provide professionals with the basic hardware, software, and networking skills necessary to function in an variety of information technology positions.  CompTIA's A+ certification is the premier certification that validates the skills required to excel in the role of a computer technician or support professional. The Network+ certification demonstrates that an individual possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to configure and operate a variety of networking products.

Combined, the A+ and Network+ certifications are backed by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications.

bullet Fundamentals—including structure and functions for Windows 9X and Windows 2000
bullet File, directory, and disk management
bullet Installation, configuration, and upgrading
bullet Application device drivers and Windows-based utilities
bullet Diagnosis and troubleshooting
bullet Internet access and network connectivity

Networking Technology

bullet Basic network structure
bullet Physical layer components, such as network cards and hubs
bullet Datalink layer bridges and IEEE 802 specs
bullet Network layer protocols
bullet Transport layer functions, including name resolution
bullet TCP/IP fundamentals—protocols, addressing, configuration
bullet TCP/IP utilities, such as Telnet and FTP
bullet Remote connectivity
bullet Security—from encryption to firewalls

Networking Practices

bullet Network planning and installation
bullet Everyday maintenance—backups, patches, virus protection
Troubleshooting scenarios, tools, and tactics
