EFL
(English As Foreign Language)
Introduction
As English has now become the
dominant language of
the world. We at Maritime Greenwich College believe that it is an essential
part of education for whichever area of employment one chooses to
enter. At Maritime Greenwich College, we have always provided
education for students who come from all over the world, ensuring
that this rich cultural diversity is reflected in the teaching so
that lessons will stimulate students whatever their ethnic origin.
The Seven Continents of the world are represented in all topics
and projects studied in classes. Moreover emphasis is placed upon
sound understanding of English grammar as well as the enrichment
of vocabulary. Naturally, communicative skills of speaking and
listening are considered important for the student's ability to
integrate fully into the British culture.
Classes are conducted in a
friendly environment with class size deliberately kept low so that
each student receives a considerable amount of individual attention
from the tutor. The English Department employs well qualified and
experienced tutors and as a result has always enjoyed a high
success rate in examination results.
Entry
Students of
all levels from elementary to advanced are accepted. To determine
which level of English class would be appropriate for a
prospective student we normally ask him/her to sit a short
assessment paper in informal conditions.
