Course Overview

This qualification focuses on the role of a support worker in oral health who is safe to practise in a dental environment, provide basic life support, is able to communicate effectively with patients and provide information on oral health and prescribed dental treatments under the supervision of another member of the oral health care team who holds overall responsibility.

You are assessed in six areas

bullet Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace
bullet Prepare and maintain environments for clinical dental procedures
bullet Provide information to patients on their oral health and prescribed dental treatments
bullet Foster people's equality, diversity and rights
bullet promote effective communication and relationships
bullet Contribute to the effectiveness of work teams

This qualification will be a helpful progression route to the level 3 NVQ in Oral Health Care which is the required award for dental nurses.

 

 

Entry Requirement:

You don't need any formal qualifications to do these NVQs, but must be currently be working in an oral health care setting.
