Course Overview

This qualification focuses on staff who provide patient care, direct chair side work and support during a range of dental treatments. Staff carrying out these roles would need to have considerable knowledge and skills in relation to dental equipment, instruments, materials and procedures and be able to work as a key member of the oral health care team.

You are assessed in nine areas:

bullet Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace
bullet Prepare and maintain environments for clinical and dental procedures
bullet Offer information to individuals on the protection of their oral health and support them in doing so
bullet Provide chairside support during the assessment of patients' oral health
bullet Process dental radiographs and support their production
bullet Provide chairside support during the prevention and control of periodontal diseases and caries and the restoration of cavities
bullet Promote people's equality, diversity and rights
bullet Promote communication with individuals where there are communication differences
bullet Develop one's own knowledge and practise

 

 

Entry Requirement:

You don't need any formal qualification to do this course. But must be currently be working in an oral health care setting
